The Puck Pimps looked to try and rebound back after their loss
last week, with a victory against the newly improved and 3rd place Sewer Rats.
Unfortunately, the result was the same as 2 of the past 3 games as it was a
similar type of team the Puck Pimps were not used to seeing. It did not help
that there were once again only 9 skaters tonight, leaving only 3 Defensemen to
fend for themselves.
The game started off with the Sewer Rats dominating on offense
and eventually getting 2 goals (one on a breakaway and one odd man on the
Powerplay) as the Puck Pimps were caught trying to take some chances. The game
went to the 2nd period with the Sewer Rats up 2-0 and after the 2nd period, it
remained 2-0 as Puck Pimps clamped down defensively.
In the 3rd period, the Sewer Rats took advantage on a delayed
penalty call and scored to make it 3-0. Puck Pimps did pull within two goals
though as Dave Scioscia was found streaking to the net by Greg Mustoe and
one-timed one past the Sewer Rats goalie to make it 3-1. However, just when
things were looking up, the Sewer Rats scored 2 more to make it 5-1. Puck Pimps
did show some signs of life and trying to stay in it as Dave Scioscia scored his
2nd of the game, a shot from the point which beat the Sewer Rats goalie top
corner (assisted by Dave Petzinger). But it was not enough in the 5-2 loss.
Nick Minarik was in goal, and he turned aside 30 of 35 shots for
the night.
